Body Found In Bergen County ID'd As NY Man, Authorities Seek Next Of Kin

Authorities have identified the body discovered along the shoreline in Fort Lee’s Ross Dock last weekend, but they are still trying to locate his next of kin, officials said.

Jairo Lopez-Lopez, 25, of Hempstead, NY, was found dead along the Hudson River at 10:58 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, according to Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer.

Palisades Interstate Parkway Police responded to the scene after a body was spotted near the water, Angermeyer said. A joint investigation was launched with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, he said.

Nearly one week later, authorities have been unable to locate Lopez-Lopez’s family, according to Angermeyer.
